New Educational Display: A Human Services Crisis
This year an educational exhibit entitled “A Human Services Crisis” was installed at the Waterbury State Office Complex (former home of the Vermont State Hospital). This display explores the human services crisis that led State leaders to embrace Eugenics and the devasting effects that this program had on individuals and families here in Vermont. The creation of this display reflects years of work on behalf of several State of Vermont employees and community members. This exhibit not only acknowledges the harm done by Vermont leadership and healthcare providers who supported this failed social program but also promotes education for the public and those Vermont State employees who serve Vermont families today.
