VT AHEC Panel Discussion
One of our members, Joanne Crawford, was recently asked by VT AHEC to participate in a panel at the UVM Larner College of Medicine to discuss cultural influences on health and cultural humility in medicine. The feedback from the students and other attendees was overwhelming positive. Below are some of the statements from the students.
I loved the large range of perspectives the panel brought to this event, both professionally, and by background. I would love to learn more about the different roles in the medical world, and how they affect the overall healthcare system.
I would love to learn more about community engagement opportunities and successful strategies that allow integration of medicine and trust within a community.
Great job adding both personal experience and work experience with the health care system to provide more insight.
AHH is grateful to VT AHEC for providing events like this to help inform future healthcare providers regarding the strengths and challenges of different communities with whom they may one day be working.
