Something of Value: the Abenaki Experience from 1790 - 2020

“Something of Value is an introduction to the Vermont Abenaki community.” Join AHH board member, Dr. Frederick M. Wiseman as he premieres his new book Something of Value at Abenaki Heritage Weekend at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum on June 14 and 15th. Using the twin concepts of cultural continuity and cultural competency, it is a brief, peer-reviewed introduction to the little known genealogy, history, arts, gardening, architecture, and social organization of the Vermont Abenaki community. Building on Wiseman’s 35 years of research in regional Indigenous history, the book adds unheard voice and new discoveries from Vermont Indigenous tradition-keepers.

This book was made possible by a generous grant from the Vermont Humanities, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, www.vermonthumanities.org."
